Here it is already getting cold – with fog in the morning and so on – even if it can get very warm during the day. But it’s definitely time to get the knitting needles out! For everyone who wants to knit for children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews: here is an idea…
A children’s jacket that not only looks very cute, but it is also practical as, thanks to the tightly knit Bavarian merino wool, it keeps off wind and rain. It is generously cut, so it’s easy to wear a sweater underneath. Thanks to the hood and zipper you can wrap up the little ones really warm. The wool is robust and can withstand a lot: I knitted the first jacket of this kind almost two years ago, and it has absolutely proved it’s worth! And after the first wash (yes, you can wash wool, if necessary: in the wool washing cycle of the washing machine, with wool detergent) the yarn becomes soft and dense, like fleece.
For all those who want to start right now: you need four 100 gram strands of Bavarian merino wool (I recommend Wendelstein wool) and a small amount in a contrasting colour. I have calculated the instructions in three sizes (1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years), the download-pdf is available here. Payment can be made via Paypal. If you don’t have a Paypal account, please contact me directly (firstname.lastname@example.org), then we will find another solution.
For everyone who has ordered Wendelstein wool from me before and is wondering where the online shop has gone: My day job requires a lot of time right now and I can’t guarantee a prompt service, so the shop is offline right now. But I still have Wendelstein wool in stock, just ask what you need and I’ll be happy to see if it’s still available. If you have a few days, you will get a package with a handwritten invoice 😉
I wish you all a beautiful autumn with enough time to knit! Kids jackets, or whatever … These two ladies are already taken care of and now are ready to play!
